IVC Filter Injuries

C.R. Bard’s Recovery and IVC filters are implanted in the inferior vena cava, where they catch blood clots before the clots can reach the lungs and become a pulmonary embolism. The Recovery IVC filter was brought to market in 2003, and replaced with the G2 Filter System in 2005.

A growing number of lawsuits charge that C.R. Bard’s products are defectively designed, and pose a serious risk of injury to patients. Our IVC filter attorneys believe that these devices are prone to fracture and migration, which can result in:

  • Internal bleeding
  • Cardiac/pericardial tamponade
  • Embolization
  • Perforation of the inferior vena cava
  • Perforation of other vital blood vessels/organs
  • Death

In August 2015, all federally-filed IVC filter lawsuits involving C.R. Bard’s products were consolidated in a federal multidistrict litigation and transferred the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona, where coordinated pretrial proceedings will be overseen by a single federal judge.
